Planning for National Novel Writing Month

I'm trying to plan out my storyline for the novel I'm writing next month (12 days from now!), so I sat down last night and wrote approximately 3,300 words trying to get my storyline onto paper. I know that I'm going to be going back and adding more to that before I actually even get started on the book. I think that 3,300 words is enough to get something going, though, even if I don't add a single thing to it before then.
I was working on an outline for the story, but there needed to be a storyline before I could even start outlining... so I think I'm going to ditch the outline and just work on the storyline and work from it. Use the storyline as my outline.
It's going to be hard figuring out where to put chapter breaks in, but I hope it'll all make sense to me sometime before the end of Novemeber. 50,00 is daunting. We'll see if I make it...

Hi Elise...I'm so glad that you're going to write a novel on NaNoWriMo! I'm not sure whether I'm going to work on another novel or not. I'm still working on the first one. But that isn't the reason I wouldn't do it. My daughter and her two children are staying with me and I have no idea how long they'll be here. It's turned my life upside-down and I'm not at all sure that I have what it takes to write a novel. I'll decide at some point!

I had no plan when I wrote last year, and my first attempt was dumped and I started over. But once I got going, I wrote conistently and eventually wrote 53,000 words in the month of Nov. Since then I've a total of 83,000 words. I'm sure that's plenty long, but I'm trying to improve the characters and make it more interesting. There always seems to be a lot going on, so I work on it intermittently.

I've recently begun going to an art class and I'm excited about that. I'm working on illustrating a children's book that I wroPte 25 years ago. So far it's been daunting since I haven't been doing any art work in years. I took a class in pastel in Santa Fe a few years ago, but have nothing since. I'm really enjoying it.
I hope you'll have time to let me know how you're doing with NNWM.
My granddaughter will be writing and probably my grandson will too. They really want me to write again, so I'll see if I can make it work out. My granddaughter is almost 14 and my grandson is 10. So let me hear how you're doing this year and how you like NNWM. I wish ygou good luck!

Well, Elise, I've decided that I'm going to try to come up with an idea for a new novel for NNWM. I've got to see if something comes to mind this week. I haven't had a chance to think about it. Went to art class this morning and that was fun...learning new things all the time. Love it! Will keep in touch during November. I look forward to hearing about your book!
